Darrow Garner, Inc. was incorporated June 26, 1964. Through ownership and development contracts, Darrow Garner began platting and improving the original 1,800 acres of Prairie Creek. With the concentration of projects (residential subdivisions and commercial lots and enterprises) in the Prairie Creek area, Darrow Garner, Inc. began doing business as Prairie Creek Development Company.

Mr. Garner and F.G Larimore platted Dutchmans First Addition, in 1961, prior to incorporation. They later developed the Mack Grimes First Addition with the Grimes family. These two subdivisions began what is now known as Prairie Creek. The acreages owned by the Ray Nelson and Gene Harris families were added and became part of the Prairie Creek Development. Over time, Prairie Creek Development has contributed to the completion of over 60 subdivisions throughout Northwest Arkansas.

An 8- inch waterline began serving Prairie Creek in the mid-1960s. Darrow Garner personally guaranteed the bonds that funded the water extension. Shortly thereafter, it became possible to warm Prairie Creek homes due to a second bond issue, which brought natural gas lines to the area. Both bond issues were successfully retired thorough the proceeds of property sales.

As Beaver Lake began to fill in the mid-1960s, Darrow Garner, Inc. was awarded the first commercial boat dock permit. It was known nationally for having one of the first dry docks in the country. The Prairie Creek Marina continues to flourish today and is one of the largest marinas on Beaver Lake. A short time later, the company built the Prairie Creek Country Club. Golfers find this 18-hole layout challenging, still today. Both of these entities have since been sold to ownership within the community.

Over the years, Darrow Garner, Inc. purchased, developed and sold numerous tracts of land. The most notable purchase was an undivided half interest in 2,396 acres of land in northwestern Benton County. The remaining half interest was purchased in 1979. The entire tract was sold to Cooper Communities in 1984.

Today, development continues as the market dictates. Darrow Garner, Inc. manages all corporately owned commercial property leases. The largest tenant has grown from originally leasing 6,000 square feet to now occupying 36,000 square feet. This business runs offices globally.

Darrow Garner, Inc. began as a family-owned business in 1964. The family continues its ownership and operation today, within the third familial generation.
